Universal Asylum does not consider the human species as the centre of &/or of any more importance than anything else in the universe.


Proceeds raised via founding artworks:

Once transferred to Not For Profit, Charity status Universal Asylum intends to retain the minimum commission on all artworks to maintain customers eligibility for charitable tax purposes in supporting the broader operations of the company with proceeds falling outside of this being paid directly to the artist responsible for their work.

Unfortunately until Universal Asylum obtains "Not For Profit, Charitable" status sales &/or donations will not be eligible for charitable tax benefits.

Nevertheless, sales made prior to Not For Profit, Charity status being secured will be divided in a similar manner with Universal Asylum retaining a 51% commission on founding artworks, investing proceeds towards general costs associated with the initial establishment of Universal Asylums & setting up to achieve its primary objectives.

Once the early stages of establishment are underway proceeds raised are intended to support the broader operations of the Universal Asylum & it's many complex roles associated with saving ourselves & everything else in this magical world, from ourselves & one another.

After tossing up between calling this Godess "Ego" & "Self-Indulgence" I think I've settled on "Ego - Self Indulgence. "... 
 
Articulating the meaning behind this piece of art is extremely challenging due to trying to keep track of the ever-evoloving accumulation of twisted shit boggling around in my mind. However , I'll do my best... 
 
Whilst at a glance "Ego - Self Endulgence" presents as an attractive woman with countless beautiful gentle lines & contours, gracefully demonstrating some unique tallents many are likely to find appealing in the form a back bend whilst snacking out on her arsehole - like any work of art & reality itself, it remains open to (miss)interpretion. However, missinterpretation & decipt of oneself & others just so happen to be some of the complex facets "Ego - Self Indulgence" is intended to touch upon.   
 
Although both related to trying to process my CPTSD.... In contrast to her pussywhipped Step-Bro "Lust" who was centred around the insanity of compromising ones own values & self for the sake sex or treating someone lovingingly in spite of abusive & otherwise undesirable character traites  - "Ego -Self Endulgence" was more inspired by attempting to understand the psychopathic abuse I'd experienced & the equally deluded psychology of someone deliberately harming me as a means of "stroking" their own ego & social status.
 
In contrast to the 3D sculpture & consistent with what she represents, the 2D "Ego - Self Indulgence: Planning Document(s)" are more truely representitive of the dangerously psychotic & blatently selfish nature of the personality , phychology or "soul" underpinning the flawless exterior she presents to the outside world. Deep down inside she is a truely evil toxic creature, a selfish, dishonest & highly manipulative coward with no morrals who will pretend to be whatever she thinks she needs to be to get whatever it is that she wants, including trampling over anyone who hurts her fragile ego by rejecting her or works out enough about the insideous manners by which she opperats to be a potential threat in exposing her. Yes. "Ego - Self Indulgence" is primarily inspired by Rosie Bourn.

Although completely seperate to Univeral Asylum I took part in the initiative run by Drug & Alcohol Services South Australia as a member of their Community Partnership Program. Although I had hoped they would shot me from further back benith my Social Work degree & with greater variety of art aranged as not to be cluttered in my relatively cramped living space the film crew wanted to shhot me in a different postion on the couch with the window in the backgroud. Although they had diffenrt tasts in artwork we came to a compromise as I felt "Lust" & "Ego - Self Endulgence" provided the most appropriate balance of being artworks of a high enough quality to refelt my skills as an Artist & complexities of my personality within this bizarre phenominon we call life. Plus, I think the raw finish of "Lust" worked well in providing subtle yet interesting background shapes whilst "Ego Self-Endulgence" balanced out the red in my magical mushroom t-shit in a complimentry fashion!
This is my Mums favourite piece. But if it was to sell, she said she'd be happy for it to go to a good cause.
